E. G. Trubina was born 4 March 1957, in Nizhnyaya Salda, Sverdlovsk Oblast, U.S.S.R. She read philosophy and later taught at Ural Federal University in Yekaterinburg. During the first years of the present millenium, she expanded her range to include a group of social sciences, chief among them urban geography. The last year of her life was spent in Durham, North Carolina, U.S.A., trying to outwit endometrial cancer. She died 4 August 2026.
